5 Winter 2012 Hair Trends to Steal From the Runway

   Girls across the country are gearing up for another year of school. Whether your semester has already begun or you're still enjoying break, we can all agree a major part of the excitement for the new school year is getting to experiment with the new winter trends.

   Below, I'll show you guys 5 of the hottest Winter 2012 runway hairstyles to rock on campus this winter.

   1. Precise Ponys

   The ponytail always plays a part in fashion week & this season it was all about concise, perfectly pulled-back looks. Hair was prepped with styling serums to prevent frizz & add shine, then flat-ironed into sleek curtains. To secure the base, stylists used everything from shiny black tape to simple elastics carefully concealed with a few loose strands.

   2. Low-Volume Hair

   Street-inspired hair (with its imperfect texture & low-key appeal) continued its run backstage. Hairstylists emphasized matted down looks in lieu of the usual full-bodied styles & even went so far as to pin under-sections of hair flat against the head to emphasize a sleeker silhouette. Fine hair has its heyday.

   3. With a Twist

   Whether braided around the crown, coiled half-back or knotted into an updo, hair was manipulated in fresh, new directions this season. While some looks require an extra set of hands, others put a simple & attainable twist on the classics.

   Stylists whipped out teasing combs & cans of hairspray to sculpt this retro-fab updo. To lend a current feel, hair was rolled & tucked under for extra dimension & the most youthful examples were framed by a simple band or sparkly ribbon.

   Statement hair accessories turned up at multiple shows, often sharing the spotlight from their accompanying updos. From cosmic hairpins to ceremonial floral headpieces, adding a little embellishment is a very good thing this winter.
