Beauty Basics: A Beginner's Guide to Nail Polish Finishes- Part 2

In my last post, I filled you guys in on some of the hottest, most popular nail polish finishes out there. This time around, you're going to learn about some less popular types of nail polish finishes & even a special effect that I threw in as a bonus because everyone is fascinated by it lately!!! These're: jelly, pearl, satin & Duochrome!!!

   Jelly

Jelly polishes're really fun, but not very popular today. They're similar to creme polishes in that they contain no shimmer, glitter or special additives & are generally focused on the main color. The primary difference between jelly & creme is that jellys're a completely different formulation!!!

   Pearl

The pearl finish is quite similar to the frost finish, but it has a more pearly sheen to it.

   Satin

Satin finishes end up matte as well, but not entirely matte. There's still a slight shine, but not enough to classify it as glossy.

   Duochrome

I'm only just beginning to come out of a creme-obsessed phase of my life & delve into the world of duochrome polishes & I couldn't be more excited! These formulations're filled with very fine shimmer & depending how the light hits them, can appear as 2 completely different colors. My current must-have duochrome is Chanel's Black Pearl.

What do you guys think of these nail polish finishes??? ♥ 'em?? Hate 'em?? Any questions about the descriptions?

  1. I love the satin finish, and the jelly finish is interesting. I'm such a newbie when it comes to nail polish, I didn't even know you could get matte ones! xx
